MAI NGUYEN AND MATT NELSON’S BIG PARTY

We’re very glad you’ll be joining us on Saturday, March 4, 2017! You’ll find information about event logistics here. If you’re new to San Diego, we created a map of places we enjoy.

Gifts

We will adhere to the Vietnamese wedding tradition wherein guests give monetary gifts to the couple as they visit tables during dinner. But if you really want to give us a lush vegetable farm with ample water, we would accept that.

What’s an appropriate gift amount? The idea behind giving cash gifts is that it will help the couple meet their needs to start a new life together. The traditional minimum is around what it cost to throw the wedding, divided by number of guests. A crude way to think of this is that each person’s “gift” would be covering the cost of them being at the wedding. This way the new couple isn’t beginning their partnership in debt. Beyond that, considerations are honeymoon fund, house down-payment, and other life expenses. Dodd-Frank might be repealed, so consider that!

This is a guide, not a demand. We invited you because we cherish your role in our lives and want to kick-off a fun, loving, interconnected future together by partying with you. Your participation in this once-in-a-MattMaife-time event is already a gift.

Children

Your children are welcome! For infants, there is a nursing room and bathroom with a change station in a quiet section of the venue. There will also be a children’s room where they can play board games. Please feel free to bring games for kids to share.
